The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The framework was approved by the Cabinet of India in May 2015.
The NIRF ranking is based on five broad parameters:
Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) (30% weightage)
Research & Professional Practice (RP) (30% weightage)
Graduation Outcomes (GO) (20% weightage)
Outreach & Inclusivity (OI) (10% weightage)
Perception (PR) (10% weightage)
The NIRF ranking is considered to be one of the most prestigious rankings of universities and colleges in India. It is used by students, parents, and employers to make informed decisions about higher education.
